There are thousands of little fiberglass kiddie-ride trains around the country, but this train is really sonething special. It has an elegance and attention to detail that is very rarely seen in similar trains. It is kind of a "cartooned" 1860 replica. This train was built in 1992 by Don Morgan, who has done extensive design and construction of amusement equipment and homes  since 1964. Only two of these trains were ever built. The exterior of the train was built from fiberglass, using silicone molds, which allows much more surface detail in the finished part than is seen in other fiberglass trains being manufactured today. The train mechanically is in good working order. Aslo included are a trailer, fencing and numerous sections of track.
$20,000 neg.

Train consists of an engine, a coal car, a cargo car, and a caboose. It is currently configured for a driver to ride in the engine, but can also be set up to work remotely. Click on any thumbnail to enlarge.

Burlap, coal, and upholstery are all molded into the fiberglass. The mock drive wheels are powered by a seperate motor for authentic motion, and have a syncronized "choo-choo" sound that varies with the speed of the train. Cars have handrails with working lights. (They are removed in most of the pictures.) The wheels have small guide wheels that allow the train to turn in a very small (12ft) radius. They turn on sealed Timken 1 ton load bearings.

Trailer has a winch to remove cars and track. Included track has a little hill in one of the straight sections. Track is made from standard tubing, so additional peices would be relatively easy to fabricate. The train is battery powered and uses standard golf cart drive components.

This is a picture of the train operating in about 1993.
